Note: Species of tall, fast-growing European elm, found mainly in England and Wales; before the advent of Dutch elm disease, it was one of the most common deciduous trees in Europe. It probably originated in Italy or Turkey: a survey of genetic diversity in Spain, Italy and Britain shows that all of this species are genetically identical clones of a single tree, probably brought to the British Isles by Romans for the purpose of supporting and training vines.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 體型高大且生長快速的歐洲榆樹，主要分布於英格蘭與威爾斯；在荷蘭榆樹病爆發之前，曾經是歐洲最常見的落葉喬木種類之一。可能原生於義大利或土耳其：一份針對西班牙、義大利與英國的基因多樣性調查顯示，三地中所有的此種樹木具有完全相同的遺傳基因，為單一母株的無性繁殖系/克隆 (clone），可能由羅馬人為了藤蔓的生長或整枝等目的而帶入不列顛群島。 |
| Dutch ..... Hoge en snel groeiende Europese iep die voornamelijk in Engeland en Wales voorkomt. Voor de komst van de iepziekte was het een van de meest voorkomende loofbomen in Europa. De soort is waarschijnlijk afkomstig uit Italië of Turkije. Uit genetisch onderzoek in Spanje, Italië en Groot-Brittannië is gebleken dat alle exemplaren van deze soort genetisch identieke klonen zijn van één enkele boom, waarschijnlijk door de Romeinen naar de Britse eilanden meegenomen om wijnstokken te ondersteunen en te leiden. |
