Note: Species of tall tree native to South America, cultivated in the West Indies. The resin is used in cough syrups, to treat asthma, in perfumery, as flavoring, in painting, and as a remedy for skin rashes, although in many people it actually causes contact dermatitis.

| Dutch ..... Grote boomsoort, inheems in Zuid-Amerika en gekweekt in West-Indië. De hars wordt in hoestsiropen, voor de behandeling van astma, in parfums, als smaakstof, voor verf en als een geneesmiddel tegen huiduitslag, hoewel het contact met de hars bij veel mensen juist huidontsteking veroorzaakt. |
