Note: Instruments used for reproducing the sounds recorded onto rotating, usually vinyl, discs. Most particularly and commonly used for the latest, higher fidelity incarnation of the gramophone, which incorporates electronic amplification of sound and electrical power to drive the turntable. For the historical mechanical device invented by Emil Berliner, use 'gramophones.' For Thomas Edison's invention that recorded sound onto cylinders use 'cylinder phonographs.'

| Dutch ..... Apparaten die men gebruikt om geluid te reproduceren dat is opgenomen op langspeelplaten, die meestal van vinyl zijn. De term gebruikt men gewoonlijk voor de moderne hifi-versie van de grammofoon, waarbij het geluid elektronisch wordt versterkt en de draaitafel door een elektromotor wordt aangedreven. Zie 'grammofoons' voor de oorspronkelijke grammofoon die door Emil Berliner is uitgevonden. Zie 'cilinderfonografen' voor de uitvinding van Thomas Edison waarbij geluid op cilinders werd opgenomen. |
