Note: Printmaking process for making relief engravings on metal, called dotted prints, using dots from punches of various shapes and sometimes including burin lines; common in the second half of the 15th century. For later, intaglio processes employing directly engraved flicks or dots for tonal areas, use "stipple engraving."

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 製作打點版畫的金屬凸版印刷技法，運用各種形狀鑽打的洞，有時亦包含雕刻刀刻線，在十五世紀後半十分普遍。若指稍晚期運用直接雕刻短刻痕或小點，以產生色調效果的凹版印刷，則用「點刻彫」(stipple engraving)一詞。 |
| Dutch ..... Drukprocédé voor het maken van reliëfgravures op metaal, schrootbladen genoemd, waarbij stippen worden gezet met gatenmakers van divers formaat, en soms ook burijnlijnen. Deze techniek was met name in de tweede helft van de 15e eeuw in zwang. Gebruik 'stippelgraveren' voor diepdrukprocédés van latere datum, waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van rechtstreeks gegraveerde krasjes of stippen om bepaalde delen uit te laten komen. |
