bungalows (<houses by form>, houses, ... Built Environment (hierarchy name)) |
|
Note: Small houses or cottages of one story or with a small second story built into a sloping roof, and having a wide porch or veranda. In America, the distinctive form is typified by one- to one-and-a-half-story houses having a low-pitched gable or hipped roof, with widely projecting, often bracketed eaves, dormers, and conspicuous front porches; popular in the United States from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The form is taken from modest one-story English houses, originally with thatched roofs, that themselves are derived from examples in India. |

Jahrhundert beliebt. |
