Note: The Information Forms hierarchy contains terms for textual, graphic, and physical objects having the primary and original purpose to record or convey specific information. Titles of particular texts are excluded, except where they are used to refer to a broad category of works (e.g., "Bibles" is included, but "Tale of Two Cities" is excluded). Relation to other hierarchies: Terms for typeface and scripts (e.g., "Caroline minuscule") are in the Components hierarchy; "information forms components" having a non-preferred partitive parent here. Terms for two- and three-dimensional works created to communicate primarily visually, especially to communicate expressive meaning rather than specific information, appear in the Visual Works hierarchy (e.g., "still lifes"). Types of prints used primarily to reproduce documents and technical drawings (e.g., "blueprints (reprographic copies)") which, though produced by light-sensitive processes are not considered photographs, appear here, while photographs and photomechanical prints are found in Visual Works. Terms for many types of financial documents are found here, while items that specifically are used in the exchange of goods or services or in the settlement of debts are found in the Exchange Media hierarchy.

De hiërarchie Informatievormen bevat descriptoren voor tekstuele, grafische en fysieke objecten met als belangrijkste en oorspronkelijke doel het vastleggen of overbrengen van specifieke informatie. Specifieke titels van teksten vallen buiten bestek van de hiërarchie, behalve als ze gebruikt worden om te refereren aan een ruime categorie van werken (bijvoorbeeld ‘bijbels’ staan erbij, maar ‘Turks fruit’ niet). Relatie met andere hiërarchieën: descriptoren voor twee- en driedimensionale werken die voornamelijk zijn bedoeld voor visuele communicatie, in het bijzonder de overdracht van een expressieve betekenis en dus niet van specifieke informatie, zijn opgenomen in de hiërarchie Beeldmateriaal (bijvoorbeeld 'stillevens'). Typen afdrukken die voornamelijk worden gebruikt voor het reproduceren van documenten en technische tekeningen (bijvoorbeeld 'blauwdrukken') worden, ondanks dat ze door middel van lichtgevoelige procedés worden gemaakt, niet beschouwd als foto's. Om die reden zijn ze hier opgenomen, terwijl foto's en fotomechanische afdrukken zijn opgenomen onder Beeldmateriaal. Termen voor allerlei soorten financiële documenten zijn hier ondergebracht, terwijl objecten die specifiek worden gebruikt bij de uitwisseling van goederen of diensten, of bij de vereffening van schulden, in de hiërarchie Ruilmiddelen te vinden zijn. |
| Spanish ..... La jerarquía de Formas de Información contiene descriptores para objetos textuales, gráficos y físicos, cuyo propósito principal y originario es el de registrar o transmitir información específica. No está considerada dentro del ámbito del AAT, como títulos de textos específicos como el del Corán y nombres individuales tipo, como por ejemplo Bembo. Relación con otras jerarquías: Descriptores para obras bi- o tridimensionales creadas para comunicar principalmente por medio visual, que comuniquen especialmente significados expresivos en vez de información específica, aparecen en la Jerarquía Obras Visuales (por ej., "naturaleza muerta"). Para tipos de estampas usadas principalmente para reproducir documentos y dibujos técnicos (por ej. "copia azul"), las que, a pesar de producirse por medio de procesos fotosensibles, no se consideran fotografías pero que sin embargo aparecen aquí, mientras que las estampas de fotografías o de proceso fotomecánico se ubican en Obras Visuales. Los descriptores para una serie de documentos financieros se ubican aquí, mientras que objetos que se emplean específicamente para el intercambio de bienes o servicios o en el pago de deudas, se ubican en la jerarquía Medios de Cambio. |
