Note: Genus containing around 12 species of tall, reedy marsh plants that bear brown, furry, fruiting spikes. They grow in a variety of wetland habitats, primarily distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The leaves and fiber fluff are used for a variety of purposes. Dutch ..... Genus van ongeveer twaalf soorten hoge rietachtige moerasplanten met harige bruine aren (���sigaren'). Ze groeien in diverse soorten watergebieden, voornamelijk op het noordelijk halfrond. De bladeren en pluizen worden op verschillende manieren gebruikt. Sommige soorten zijn eetbaar voor mensen.
