Record Type: concept
Prunus avium (species) (Prunus (genus), Rosaceae (family), ... Living Organisms (hierarchy name))

Note: Species of medium-sized deciduous Eurasian tree. All parts except the fruit are slightly toxic. The fruit is food for birds and mammals; some also crack open the stones to eat the kernel inside. The leaves provide food for some animals, including the case-bearer moth. The tree exudes a gum from wounds in the bark, by which it seals the wounds to exclude insects and fungal infections.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Middelgrote Europees-Aziatische loofboom.
