These brief notes offer insight into Yvonne Rainer’s thinking about how the performance of task-like activities can reorient our perception of the dancing body. She writes, “If one is skillful and sensitive one can redistribute the ‘load’ that physical presence carries so that previously charged material becomes uncharged and previously innocuous or banal material becomes fraught with tension, anxiety, expectation.”
