War of the Pacific (South American history, 1879-1883)

Note: The War of the Pacific resulted from the territorial dispute between Chile and Bolivia over the Atacama Desert, due to its natural resources. Peru entered the war due to it's treaty with Bolivia in an agreement over their territories. Chile and Bolivia entered into a truce over shared resources in 1884, which was solidified with a treaty in 1904.
