Hades (Greek deity)

Note: In Greek mythology, god of the underworld. Hades was a son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, and brother of the deities Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia. His later name was Pluto; Plato says that people preferred the latter name because it meant "giver of wealth" and was not fear-provoking. Note the the god of wealth was Plutus, not the same as Hades/Pluto.
