Mexican-American War (Mexican-USA history, 1846-1848)

Note: War originating from the 1845 annexation of Texas and a dispute regarding the exact borders separating the U.S. state and Mexico. Via the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the U.S. would extend its territory to include more than 500,000 square miles of formerly Mexican lands.
