Mahabharata (epic poem, Vyasa, ca. 1500 BCE)

Note: With Ramayana, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India. It is the narrative of the Kurukshetra War and stories of associated princes. Traditionally, the author is Vyasa, flourished 1500 BCE. In written form, scholars believe that the oldest preserved text date ca. 400 BCE, and that the origins of the epic are probably 8th-9th centuries BCE.
