Head of a Man (possibly a portrait of Cicero, 106 - 43 B.C.) (sculpture (visual work); Attributed to Conrat Meit (German, about 1480s - 1550/1551) ...; about 1515; J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center (Los Angeles, Los A...; 96.SA.2)
Note: This alabaster head represents a man of mature age, as indicated by his gaunt facial features, deep "crow's feet" at the outer corners of his eyes, creased forehead, and sagging skin at his neck. His hair, rendered in unusual, spaghetti-like strands, is combed forward toward his face. In addition to the concavity of his forehead and cheeks, the subject's most striking feature is the prominent mole or wart at the outer corner of the proper left eye.Attributed to Conrat Meit (German, about 1480s - 1550/1551)
