Note: The architect, painter and stage designer Giovanni Niccolò Servandoni was active in Paris and received commissions at several royal courts in Europe. The print depicts a fireworks structure designed by Giovanni Niccolò Servandoni to be erected in Saint James's Park, London, 1749, in celebration of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle that ended the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48); A palace is shown in plan and elevation with a scale. A caption describes the building, pyrotechnic rockets, wheel-shaped fireworks displays, fountains and cascades.
