Thanks for highlighting a not very well known area of art. These works are something else. They remind me of my most wonderful, colorful dreams. Living in Florida, one doesn't get much of an exposure to art, but thanks to the Getty's impressive online exhibitions I can be exposed to different forms of art through the internet. I only wish I could visit this exhibition in person.

The color and intricacy and just plain beauty of these works is stunning. Why didn't I learn about illuminated manuscripts in school?

The zoom is amazing—so vivid and such a good quality image. You might think the show's going to be a let down after this because it's behind glass.

It's incredible the detail, its magic! I love the "What's for Dinner" caption in the Medea Kills Jason's Son image—its fun, its beautiful!

I can't believe how gross some of the subjects are in these manuscripts! Women tearing up babies? People frying in hell? I always thought manuscripts were supposed to be light and pretty!

Great website! Very cool being able to get so up close and see these details. The death bed scene is my favorite.

In the manuscript about The Georgics, it says that banging on a cymbal will attract bees. Is there any truth that this works?

What the heck is that two-faced thing?
