The comic heroes of Culture Clash invoke the revolutionary spirit of Aristophanes in his zany, utopian escapade Peace for the Getty Villa's Outdoor Classical Theater. Joining forces with guest director Bill Rauch (visionary co-founder of L.A.'s Cornerstone Theater and now artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), choreographer Ken Roht (creator of the delightfully irreverent "99-Cent Only" shows), and celebrated comic actors John Fleck and Amy Hill, Culture Clash joyfully transports "the father of comedy" from ancient Athens to our own chaotic and shameless age.

About Peace
In 421 B.C., the 27-year-old comic playwright Aristophanes launched a ribald and scathing theatrical assault on Athens' entrenched "military-industrial complex." High on Mount Olympus, the ogre War has imprisoned the goddess Peace and holds sway over all of Greece; while on Earth below, a small band of rustic patriots hatch a daring plot to engineer her rescue and restore Peace to the land.

About Culture Clash
Culture Clash is the nation's most prominent Chicano-Latino performance troupe. For 25 years, writer-actors Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Herbert Siguenza have imitated the workings of social anthropologists, digging deep into America's racialized culture to formulate their outrageous brand of satire. Peace is their second dramatic encounter with Aristophanes at the Getty Villa.

A special talk with Culture Clash and John Glore, co-adapter of the play, will be held on October 3.

Dining Options
Prior to each performance, a variety of food items and beverages will be available to purchase at the Cafe at the Getty Villa and the Coffee Cart.

As an additional convenience, prepaid box dinners are also available, to be picked up at the Cafe at the Getty Villa before the performance. Please use the form below to fax or call in your menu selections and payment information by the Monday before the performance date purchased.

Please note that visitors will not be permitted to enter the site with food, beverages, or alcohol. All bags may be subject to security inspection, and backpacks and bags larger than 11 x 17 x 8 inches must be checked at the coat check in the Entry Pavilion.

Free Shuttle
For your convenience, a free shuttle from the Getty Center in Los Angeles to the Getty Villa in Malibu will be available to each individual who purchases a Peace event ticket for previews on September 3, 4, or 5, or performances between September 10 and October 3.

The shuttle will pick up guests in the Getty Center parking structure, on level P1. Boarding will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the shuttle will leave the Getty Center at 6:40 p.m. Ticket holders must present their Peace tickets prior to entering the shuttle. The shuttle will depart the Getty Villa promptly at 10:00 p.m.
