An Evening in Ephesus

Ephesus was one of the most important Hellenistic and Roman cities in Asia Minor. Its monumental ruins only hint at the city's original wealth and splendor. Archaeologist Mehmet Cuhadar will provide a historical overview of Ephesus, with a focus on recent discoveries and the great monuments at the site. Presented by the Getty Conservation Institute in collaboration with the Crisler Library of Ephesus.

Molten Color: Glassmaking in Antiquity

In 2003, the J. Paul Getty Museum acquired a collection of over 350 pieces of ancient glass, formerly owned by Erwin Oppenländer. The works on view in Molten Color are remarkable for their high quality, their chronological breadth, and the glassmaking techniques illustrated by their manufacture. The vessels are accompanied by text and videos illustrating ancient glassmaking techniques.
