Luis Alfaro, the playwright of
Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles opening at the Getty Villa in September, offers a look at his artistic process, which involved bringing the actors to East L.A. for a reading of the play. "My goal as an artist and citizen is not only to tell an interesting new story, but also to diversify the audience that will receive it," he says.

A New Bernini
Gian Lorenzo Bernini made this marble bust of Pope Paul V in 1621, when the artist was only 23 years old. It now joins one other marble sculpture made by Bernini with his father Pietro, as well as two of Gian Lorenzo's drawings in the Museum's collection. The new sculpture is now on view at the
Getty Center.
