Angerer, Victor (Austrian photographer, 1839-1894)
|
Note: After completing his military service, Angerer opened his own studio in the 4th district of Vienna in 1862. A branch in Budapest was added together with Béla Gévay and from 1865-1873 another branch in the spa town of Ischl. With his brother Ludwig from 1867 operated the studio L. & V. Angerer in Vienna. When his brother's health deteriorated in the mid-1870s, Angerer took over the studio. After the death of his brother Ludwig, he founded a lithographic institution and a photo publishing house in 1880. A new studio in Vienna followed in 1892.
While portrait photography was in the foreground during his time with his brother, Angerer had been devoted to industrial and interior photography and the creation of views of Vienna and the surrounding area since the late 1870s. He also occasionally ran a photography publishing house called A. & V. Angerer with his brother August Angerer. His company was one of the leading Austrian lithography companies of the 1880s and 1890s. |
