Note: Member of the group Gutai, which she joined in 1955. Tanaka is best known for her "Electric Dress," made from electrical cords and light bulbs, and for work that combined non-traditional art materials, including sound and light, in performance, sculpture, and installations. She later concentrated on abstract paintings and drawings.
