Hughes, Cornelius Jabez (English daguerreotypist and photographer, 1819-1894)
|
Note: Died 11 August 1884. In 1847, Hughes was working as an assistant to the London photographer John Jabez Edwin Mayall. In 1849, Hughes opened his own photographic studio in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1855, Hughes purchased Mayall's "American Daguerreotype Institution," Strand, London. In 1862, Hughes took over Lacy's studio in Ryde, Isle of Wight, England. He became the Queen's photographer on the Isle of Wight. |
