Appiani, Giuseppe (Italian painter, 1701-1786)
|
Note: In his youth, he was influenced by Lombard painting and Venetian artists, particularly Giambattista Tiepolo. He apparently traveled to Bavaria as a young man, becoming influenced by the art of other Italians there, Carlo Innocenzo Carlone and Jacopo Amigoni. From 1745 he lived in Mainz, where he became the foremost court painter. |
