Note: Born February 20, 1912, Johnson studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, then traveled to Europe where she studied with Francis Picabia and Stanley William Hayter. She was a devotee of Carl Jung and wrote "Lady of the Beasts: Ancient Images of the Goddess and Her Sacred Animals," 1988. She maintained friendships with many luminaries in the worlds of art and literature. |
