Aldrich, Larry (American fashion designer, art collector, and museum founder, 1906-2001)
|
Note: Aldrich was a successful fashion designer, launching his clothing line in the late 1920s. He began to collect art in the late 1930s and became a patron of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum. In 1964 he founded his namesake museum, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and in 1993 he set up an annual fellowship program for contemporary artists. |
