Feuerstein, Bedřich (Czech architect, painter, and scenographer, 1892-1936)
|
Note: Studied architecture at the Prague Technical University from 1911 to 1917, and was later granted a scholarship by the French government to study at the Ecole du Louvre. Feuerstein joined Devětsil in 1922, and in 1923 became part of its architecture section, Ardev. He was influenced by cubism, and was an important proponent of Czech purism. His most important work is a crematorium building in Nymburk, created from 1921-1923 with Bohumil Sláma. In the early 1920s he designed sets for stage productions in Prague, and worked in the Paris studio of Auguste Perret in 1925. He travelled to the United States, China and the USSR in the early 1930s, and in 1932 became a member of the Mánes Union of Plastic Artists. Czech architect and artist. |
