|
Note: Painter, illustrator, and sculptor who studied in Prague at the Czech Technical Institute 1938-1939 and at the School of Applied Art 1941-1942. His early works involved the female form and show the influence of Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920). He joined the Mánes Union of Artists in 1943 and the Hollar Society of Czech Artists in 1945. After 1943 his work begins to show the influence of Cubism and his subjects mainly come from nature. In the 1950s he concentrates on drawing and focuses once again on figure studies and portraits in a folk art style. |
