Aqa Riza (Persian painter, active ca. 1580-ca. 1610, active in India)
|
Note: Persian artist who worked for the Mughal Emperor Jahangir in India. Various inscriptions tell us that Aqa Riza came from Mashhad. He was father of the great painter Abu’l-Hasan. Another artist from the same period, Riza Abbasi under the Safavid shah Abbas I, also went by the name Aqa Riza early in his career, causing confusion among scholars. |
