Group X (British group of artists, formed 1920)
|
Note: Group of British artists formed in 1920; although the group intended to exhibit together twice annually, they only exhibited once, in 1920 at the Mansard Gallery in London. It was essentially a regrouping of the Vorticists. Members' work displays a tendency to angular figuration. Its relatively conservative nature and its short lifespan are indicative of both the disruption to British avant-garde activity brought about by World War I, and of the more widespread cultural retrenchment of the post-war period. |
