Amelung, John Frederick (American glass manufacturer, 1741-1798)
|
Note: Amelung emigrated to the United States and in 1784 founded the Amelung glasshouse (also known as the New Bremen glasshouse, the Etna Glass Works, and the American Glass Manufactory) at New Bremen near Fredrickstown, Maryland. The factory mainly produced window glass, looking glass, bottles, and lenses although it also made a slightly smoky crystal glass as well as colored glass vessels. The factory closed for financial reasons in 1795. |
