Pywell, William R. (American photographer, born 1843 or 1844, died 1887)
|
Note: Pywell worked for photographer Mathew Brady in Washington D.C. ca. early 1860s, and left to work for Alexander Gardner photographing the Civil War ca. 1862. In 1865 and again in 1869, Pywell returned to Washington, D.C., to work in Gardner's studio. From 1867 to 1868, Pywell worked in Houston, Texas, for C.N. Bean at the Houston City Photographic Gallery. In 1874, Pywell was the assistant photographer on the Transit of Venus Expedition to Campbelltown, Australia. In the early 1880s, Pywell opened the Excelsior Photographic Studio in Ruston, Louisiana. |
