Note: County Limerick in the southwestern Irish province of Munster covers some 1037 square miles, consisting of rolling hills, glacial drifts, and large areas of rich pasture land. It is noted for ruins of prehistoric monuments, round towers, and monasteries. Farming is important, particularly of livestock, including cattle, pigs, and sheep.
