Messier 45 (star cluster) |
Note: An open star cluster located in the constellation Taurus, in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy in the Local Group of galaxies. M45 is 444 light years away from Earth. It contains middle-aged, hot B-type stars; among the star clusters nearest to Earth and obvious to the naked eye in the night sky. In modern times, the position of the cluster was measured and cataloged by Charles Messier in the 18th century. |
