Note: Forest is one of the nineteen former communes that formed the Greater Brussels area. It encompasses two wooded parks on the slopes of the Zenne Valley that were once part of the ForĂȘt de Soignes, hence the town's name. It is home to the Abbey of Saint-Benoit, built in 1106, which includes monastic buildings built in the 18th century. The modern town is a suburb of Brussels, and has many industries including leather goods, soap, clocks, and beer.
