Note: The city of Banja Luka us located on the Vrbus River in the Republik of Srpska. It was built on the site of battles between Austrians and Turks in 1527, 1688 and 1737. It was influential in the revolts of the Bosnians against the Turks in the 19th century, and against the Nazis in World War II. It was badly damaged by an earthquake 1969. Its estimatedmpopulation in 2004 was 196,500. |
