Note: The interior, enclosed parts of Greek or Greco-Roman temples, usually containing the cult statue of the god and encompassing any sub-chambers within the solid wall, such as the vestibule, sanctuary or central chamber, and treasury. The term was later adopted to mean any of various small interior rooms, such as cells in a convent. |

Dutch ..... Gewoonlijk het binnenste, besloten gedeelte van een Griekse of een Grieks-Romaanse tempel die subkamers omvat zoals de hal, het sanctuarium of de centrale ruimte en de schatkamer. Wordt soms als synoniem gebruikt voor 'naos', maar volgens sommige wetenschappers verwijst deze laatste term uitsluitend naar de centrale ruimte. |

Im Allgemeinen der innere, umschlossene Teil eines griechischen oder griechisch-römischen Tempels, einschließlich aller Nebenräume innerhalb der festen Mauern wie etwa Vorhalle, Kultraum oder zentraler Raum und Schatzkammer.
