Note: Nonfiction motion pictures originally released to theaters in periodic issues, each issue consisting of a number of news stories reporting or commenting on recent events. Typically American newsreels ran for about ten minutes and were issued twice weekly. They were first produced by French filmmakers in the mid-1890s. Their principal years of production in the U.S. ran from 1910 to the 1960s.

| Dutch ..... Nieuwsfilms die oorspronkelijk in de bioscoop werden uitgebracht in periodieke afleveringen, elke aflevering met een aantal nieuwsverhalen met een verslag over of commentaar op recente gebeurtenissen. Amerikaanse bioscoopjournaals duurden ongeveer tien minuten en werden twee keer per week uitgegeven. Ze werden voor het eerst halverwege de jaren 90 van de 19de eeuw gemaakt door Franse filmmakers. De hoogtijjaren in de Verenigde Staten waren van 1910 tot de jaren 60. |
