Note: Catalan avant-garde movement in art and literature, founded in Barcelona in 1948 and active until the early 1950s. It was a counter-movement that wanted to break open the imposed art under the Franco regime. The style is based on Surrealism and Dadaism, but combined with Cubism and contemporary post-war trends, which opened Spanish art to foreign influences and made it the precursor of Spanish informal art and Abstract Expressionism. The movement published a magazine with the same name.

| Dutch ..... Catalaanse avant-garde beweging in kunst en literatuur, opgericht in Barcelona in 1948 en actief tot begin jaren 50. Het was een tegenbeweging die de opgelegde kunst onder het Franco-regime wilde openbreken. Haar stijl is gebaseerd op het surrealisme en dadaïsme, maar gecombineerd met kubisme en contemporaine naoorlogse trends, waarmee ze de Spaanse kunst opende voor buitenlandse invloeden en de voorloper werd van de Spaanse informele kunst en het abstract expressionisme. De beweging gaf een tijdschrift uit met dezelfde naam. |
