Note: Refers to a method of decoration used by some ancient Greek black-figure artists to decorate small vases. The technique, invented around 530 BCE, involves painting figures in added white, red, or pink on top of a black-glaze ground and incising details so that the black glaze shows through. The resulting effect is similar to red-figure. Beazley named this technique after the Dutch scholar Jan Six, who first drew attention to these polychrome vases. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 指稱為部分古希臘黑繪式藝術家用來裝飾小型花瓶的裝飾手法。此種技法大約發展於西元前530年間,作法是以白色、紅色,或者是粉紅色筆觸點綴黑色釉料底色上的人像,並且雕刻出細節,好彰顯黑色釉彩,其所產生的效果與紅繪式類似。畢茲理以首位注意到這些多彩裝飾花瓶的荷蘭學者楊‧席克斯(Jan Six)之名為此種技法命名。 |
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een decoratiemethode die door sommige Griekse zwartfigurige kunstenaars werd gebruikt voor het decoreren van kleine vazen. Bij deze techniek, die rond 530 v. Chr. is uitgevonden, worden figuren aanvullend beschilderd met wit, rood of roze boven op een zwarte geglazuurde ondergrond. De details werden ingesneden, zodat het zwarte glazuur doorschijnt. Het eindresultaat is vergelijkbaar met roodfigurig werk. Beazley noemde de techniek naar de Nederlandse geleerde Jan Six, die als eerste de aandacht vestigden op deze polychrome vazen. |
