Note: Small sculptures carved from green nephrite and worn as pendants by the Maori people of New Zealand. Hei tiki are fertility symbols resembling the form of a human fetus. Traditionally worn only by women, they are handed down through generations. They are more recently mass-produced in plastic as tourist souvenirs or good luck charms. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 以綠色軟玉刻成的小型雕刻物,紐西蘭毛利人當墜飾配戴。形狀為胎兒,象徵著豐產繁殖。通常由婦女佩戴,並做為傳家之物。近代則開始以塑膠材料大量生產,並販售給觀光客當成紀念品或幸運符。 |
Dutch ..... Kleine beeldjes gesneden uit groen nefriet die de Maori's van Nieuw-Zeeland dragen als hangers. Het zijn vruchtbaarheidssymbolen met de vorm van een menselijke foetus. Traditioneel worden ze alleen gedragen door vrouwen en gaan ze over van generatie op generatie. Tegenwoordig produceert men ook kunststof hei tiki's in massa als souvenirs of talismans voor toeristen. |
German ..... Kleine aus grünem Nephrit geschnitzte Figur, die von den Maori in Neuseeland als Anhänger getragen wird. Hei Tiki ist ein Fruchtbarkeitssymbol, der in seiner Form einem menschlichen Fötus ähnelt. Traditionell wird er von Frauen getragen und von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben. Seit kürzerem wird er auch aus Plastik in Massen als Touristensouvenir oder als Glücksbringer produziert. |
Portuguese ..... Pequenas esculturas esculpidas de nefrita verde e usadas como pingente pelos povos Maori da Nova Zelândia. Hei tiki são símbolos de fertilidade que se assemelham à forma de um feto humano. Tradicionalmente usadas somente por mulheres, elas eram herdadas por gerações. Elas são mais recentemente produzidas em massa em plástico como lembranças de turismo ou como amuleto de boa sorte. |
