Note: Trimming of cloth or leather worn on both civilian garments and armor from the mid-16th to the early 17th century. On armor it was worn at the edges of the metal plates where separate pieces overrode each other, serving to reduce noise and friction. |

Dutch ..... Garneersel van stof of leer dat vanaf halverwege de 16e tot vroeg in de 17e eeuw zowel op burgerkleding als op wapenrusting werd gedragen. Op wapenrusting werd het gedragen aan de randen van de metalen platen, waar de losse onderdelen over elkaar heen schoven, om het geluid en wrijving te verminderen. |
Spanish ..... Adornos en tela o cuero que se llevan tanto en ropa civil como armaduras a partir de mediados del siglo XVI a comienzos del XVII. En las armaduras se llevaba en los bordes de las placas de metal donde las piezas se sobreponían entre sí, ayudando a disminuir el ruido y la fricción.
