Note: Species of pine native to the mountains of Oregon and California, United States, and Baja California, Mexico. It is one of the largest species of pine, 40-60 m (130-200 feet) in height. The species is prominent in the Achumawi First People creation myth, in which the creator drops a seed from the tree to make one of the first people.

| Dutch ..... Dennenboom die inheems is in de bergen van de Amerikaanse staten Oregon en Californië en de Mexicaanse staat Baja California. De reuzenden kan 40 tot 60 meter hoog worden en is daarmee een van de grootste dennensoorten. De soort speelt een belangrijke rol in de mythe van de Achomawi-indianen over het ontstaan van de mens. Volgens die mythe liet de schepper een zaadje van de boom vallen om een van de eerste mensen te maken. |
