Note: The styles and cultures of various indigenous tribal populations located within the Indian subcontinent and retaining their ancient African/Austric languages, generally limited to those whose ancestral presence in the area precedes the Dravidian settlement of ca. 2000 BCE and various Aryan (Indo-European) invasions ca. 1500 BCE. In the constitution of India, in 1950 most of these groups were listed as Scheduled Tribes, targeted for social and economic development; used as the general term for the Indian scheduled tribes, who are usually descendents of these people. |

Dutch ..... De stijlen en culturen van diverse inheemse stammen van het Indiase subcontinent die hun oude Afrikaanse/Austrische talen hebben behouden. Het gebruik van de term is over het algemeen beperkt tot stammen waarvan de voorvaderen al in het gebied waren vóór de Dravidische kolonisatie van ongeveer 2000 v.Chr. en diverse Arya-invasies (van Indo-Europeanen) van ongeveer 1500 v.Chr. In de grondwet van India van 1950 werden de meeste van deze groepen genoemd als 'geregistreerde stammen' ('Scheduled Tribes') die voor maatschappelijke en economische ontwikkeling in aanmerking kwamen. De term wordt gebruikt als algemene term voor de Indiase 'geregistreerde stammen', die meestal afstammen van deze volkeren. |
