Note: Genus containing several species of bees native to tropical Eurasia and found in Africa. Members of the honey bee genus produce honey and are generalist floral visitors that pollinate a wide variety of plants. The body becomes dusted with pollen during foraging; this pollen is then transferred from plant to plant as the bee continues to visit flowers.

| Dutch ..... Genus van diverse soorten bijen die inheems zijn in tropische delen van Eurazië en die ook in Afrika voorkomen. Leden van dit genus produceren honing en bezoeken bloemen zonder specifieke voorkeur waardoor ze een breed scala van planten bestuiven. Tijdens het fourageren raakt het lijf overdekt met een laagje stuifmeel, dat van plant op plant wordt overgedragen terwijl de bij bloemen bezoekt. |
