Note: Refers to the indigenous style associated with the region in Borneo known as Sarawak. The style reflects the region's history of foreign occupation by numerous empires from the Majapahit empire of Java, to the British protectorate of Brunei, and finally to the modern Malaysian nation. The style is characterized by ironworks, wood carvings featuring Islamic motifs, and ceramics taught by Chinese traders. Indigenous art by the Iban people of Sarawak features animist religious motifs.

Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de inheemse stijl die wordt geassocieerd met het gebied Sarawak in Borneo. De stijl vormt een afspiegeling van de geschiedenis van het gebied, die wordt gekenmerkt door bezettingen door tal van buitenlandse mogendheden: van het Majapahit-rijk van Java en het Britse protectoraat van Brunei tot het huidige Maleisië. De stijl kenmerkt zich door ijzerwerk, houtsnijwerk met islamitische motieven en keramiek, waarvan de technieken werden bijgebracht door Chinese kooplieden. De inheemse kunst van het Ibanvolk van Sarawak wordt gekenmerkt door animistische religieuze motieven.

El estilo refleja la historia de la región de ocupación extranjera por numerosos imperios del imperio Majapahit de Java, al protectorado británico de Brunei y finalmente a la moderna nación de Malaysia. El estilo se caracteriza por trabajo en hierro, tallados de madera que ofrecen motivos islámicos y cerámica transmitida por comerciantes chinos. El arte indígena del pueblo de Iban de Sarawak presenta motivos religiosos animistas.
