Note: Refers to a type of marble quarried in the area around Carrara, in Tuscany, Italy. It is characterized by a fine, compact grain and varies in color from pure white to creamy white, sometimes with a bluish tinge; it is a saccharoidal rock that can appear translucent in the finer grades. It has been a favorite stone of sculptors from antiquity to the present, including Michelangelo Buonarotti. Luna marble was the name used in ancient Rome.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een marmersoort die wordt gedolven in het gebied rond Carrara in Toscane in Italië. Het kenmerkt zich door een fijne, compacte structuur en varieert in kleur van zuiver wit tot romig wit met soms blauwige nuances. Het is een suikerachtig gesteente waarvan de betere kwaliteiten soms doorschijnend lijken. Vanaf de antieke oudheid tot de tegenwoordige tijd is het een favoriete steen geweest van beeldhouwers, onder wie Michelangelo Buonarotti. In het oude Rome stond deze marmersoort bekend onder de naam Luna marmer. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a un tipo de mármol extraído de la zona en torno a Carrara, en Toscana, Italia. Se caracteriza por un grano fino y compacto y varía de color desde un blanco puro a un blanco crema, a veces con un tono azulado. Es una roca sacaroidal que puede parece translúcida en los grados más finos. Ha sido una de las piedras favoritas de los escultores desde la Antigüedad a nuestros días, incluyendo Miguel Angel Buonarotti. En la antigua Roma se le designaba como mármol luna.
