The abstraction and elegance of Kaprow’s programs often obscures the many practical problems involved in enacting a happening. At the same time, for him the moment of enactment was an essential part of the whole. On this copy of the poster for Transfer, Kaprow addresses many of these practical issues, such as location and timing, which, as a rule, he tried to iron out by phone with collaborators and students in the month before his arrival on campus.
