This is the first of a number of chance compositions Benjamin Patterson was invited to write for openings at Haro Lauhus’s gallery in Cologne. This score for three pianos achieves chance procedures through shuffled cards that feature unspecified attacks of varied durations, amounts, and qualities (including clusters, varied spacings, and transpositions).
