Steffen Schleiermacher’s 1994 recording makes a stronger choice than David Tudor and Frank Denyer by taking advantage of the indeterminacy of dynamics in Morton Feldman’s score. His interpretation draws a sharp contrast between a loud foreground (single isolated attacks) set against a quiet backdrop of tone clusters.
