Note: Located in: New York, New York; 6.5-acre zoo located at the southeast corner of Central Park in New York City; Built in 1934 under Parks Commissioner Robert Moses; the new brick and limestone "picture-book zoo" was designed by Aymar Embury II, with construction aided by the federally financed Works Progress Administration (WPA) labor. This replaced an older zoo at the Arsenal at Central Park.
